The Shepherds Were First
As I was reading the Christmas Story to my son this morning, I realized for the first time that the Shepherds had to overcome great fear to hear the announcement that our Savior was born. And also that they were the first eyewitnesses to the birth of Christ. My son asked me: "Daddy, do you think Jesus still has all the presents they gave him?" Before answering I thought about it, and I had to say: "Yes, he does." I'm sure our Lord has a little room in heaven with the gold, frankincense and myrrh, and any other gifts given to Him by the first to hear of his birthday. Jesus being born is so much more than a holiday, it's the reason for the season and the reason we live and move and have our being. Glory to God in the highest! (Luke 2)
